about

You don't just go and name an album 'Queer'. It's too bold, too loaded, too on-the-nose, and sets the bar too high. Don't tell that to Joey Walker.

Track Name: I Thought
i thought.
i could.
leave here.
unharmed.
i thought.
i could.
leave here.
unwrought.
i thought.
i thought.
so much.
so much.
i thought.
i thought.
a lot.
a lot.

i want.
what you want.
to be alone.
to be apart.
i want.
your mouth.
rusted shut.
broken in parts.
i thought.
i want.
i thought.
i want.
i thought.
of you.
a lot.
Track Name: Carrion Kiss
the moon was sharp-edged,
pointing opposite of heaven—
a storm blowing from paradise
moved across the sky.
and time now was lost
in the name of progress—
there were angels for us now,
they crowded all around.

i have kissed my best friend—
my lips carrion to him.
my tongue a maggot
in my mouth.
a floodgate of saliva
opening, cascading,
flowing out between
our battling mouths.

and i’m still in love with you…
Track Name: Continent
there are scars on my arms from razorblades—
marks on my body from bad burns.
where have all those places gone
where you touched me for longer than an hour?
every stroke blossomed
into beautiful bruises—
my skin soft as mute paper, and you,
my towering shadow-like man, you said:

“i want to become an island again”.

blackened boots and cigarette smoke—
i heard your car rumbling by as i walked.
you said you were driving
just to get out,
but i knew that it was
something different.

you are far gone now—across
an ocean where you seem to belong!
i’m holding a mirror up
to these waves—
nebulous medusa appears then crashes
into nothingness;
i could lay here forever,
let myself be littered with coral!

you don’t belong to me—
you don’t belong to yourself!

i want to become an island again.

you giant
continent,
break off your
tectonic plate.
we will form
a new earth—
watch the sun
make the day.
Track Name: Mute
i am mute like the music that hides
within the body of a violin.
i have chosen not to sing.

i fear that the next one
will be the last,
and i fear the next one
won’t be the last.

mistakes are not eternal—
haven’t i learned anything?!
the violin is broken—
the violin is mended—
Track Name: Monotony
words leave my lips like papier mâché
catching aflame against a candle
waxed to its frame—
a column of homogenous thing.

tear off the tendons—
expose this ivory skeleton!

and when our bones align
in this light,
i feel fine.
and when our bones collide
in this light,
i feel fine.

shooting up iodine
in a pattern like an assembly line—

shoving syringes deep into
what is pure and divine.

and when our bones align
in this light,
i feel fine.
and when our bones collide
in this light,
i feel fine.

these throats, these
thyroids were
made to be
intruded upon.

these throats, these
eyes were
made to be
intruded upon.

these throats, these
bodies were
made to be
intruded upon.

these throats
were
made—
Track Name: Oppressor
let the flesh rot
let the flesh rot outside

let the flesh rot
let the flesh rot inside

let the body
divorce itself from the mind

let the man in
don’t feel anything

everywhere we look
all we see are blue skies

everywhere we look
broken bodies all the time
Track Name: Old Wounds
we stayed up,
watched the sunrise—
and i felt myself
melt under your eyes.
i asked you, “please,
make this stop”.
you tried your hardest, but it
wasn’t good enough.
the cut got deeper and i
breathed in harder—
started shaking from the
deepness of your love.
my scars are shown, but they’ve
all healed up.
funny how time closes
old wounds.
Track Name: Queer
Track Name: Crisis
stop trying to find your friends.
focus on getting to the end.
it’s a labyrinth.

bite your bottom lip.
bleeds till it dries out.

find the distance between.
the sound and the moving.
separate the sand with a sieve.
it’s a maze.

don’t get discouraged.
don’t lose this here.
this time and space.
isn’t real.
